Accessibility Statement
SN Media is committed to making its journalism available to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities.
Independent journalism should reach everyone. This statement sets out the standard we hold the Site to, where we fall short, and how to tell us.
01 Our commitment
SN Media believes that access to independent journalism should not depend on how someone reads, hears or navigates the web. We aim to make this Site perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for everyone, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-off task.
02 The standard we aim for
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA — the standard widely referenced by accessibility law around the world. In practice, we build the Site so that it:
- can be navigated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus and a skip-to-content link;
- uses semantic, structured HTML that works with screen readers;
- provides text alternatives for meaningful images;
- maintains sufficient colour contrast for body text and key interface elements;
- reflows and remains usable on small screens and at high zoom levels.
03 Known limitations
We publish continuously and rely in part on third-party and embedded content, so some parts of the Site may not yet fully meet our target. Areas we actively monitor include:
- embedded third-party media, such as video or social posts, whose accessibility we do not fully control;
- older articles or images that predate our current standards;
- occasional gaps introduced by automated publishing, which we correct as we find them.
Where we identify a barrier, we prioritise fixing it and, where possible, offer an accessible alternative in the meantime.
04 Getting help and reporting a barrier
If you encounter anything on this Site that you cannot access, we want to know. Please tell us what you were trying to do, the page you were on, and the assistive technology or browser you were using, so we can reproduce and fix the problem.
Email us at [email protected] or use our contact page and mark your message “Accessibility”. We aim to acknowledge reports promptly and to keep you updated on a fix.
05 An ongoing effort
We review accessibility as part of how we build and maintain the Site, and we update this statement as our work continues. The effective date above reflects the most recent review. Your feedback is one of the most valuable ways we find and fix problems.
